Nielsen Automotive Services is a learning organization and as such we are excited to announce that we have partnered with many industry experts to offer paid career development training to all of our Employees.
Advisors and Managers Training
Training Plans: New to our Organization? Welcome to the family. From your first day you can expect to be set up with a plan to get you up to speed on how Nielsen Automotive Services operates and the various systems we use. Once Mastered we offer a variety of Continuing Training Education Opportunities (CTEs) through our in house training and various industry partnerships.
Strategic Training: From Phone Mastery to Service Manager and all of the skills in between we have multiple training opportunities for all individuals from Virtual to In Person classes we offer a variety to fit all schedules and levels of experience.
Bridge to Service Advisor: Foundations of Success
2024 Goals: To provide training opportunities and a base of knowledge for Porters and Juniors Advisors brand new to business. This entry level path should be provided to all employees who are customer facing and cover phones for any period of time, and will stand as the foundation for pursuing a position as a full time Service Advisor.
Program Details: This introductory program is designed for our Porters and Entry level personnel who wish to pursue a career as an Advisor within our organization. This program features a few basic skills from answering phones and setting appointments to assisting with inventory and is designed to give exposure to front of the house elements while still allowing for fulltime duties to be fulfilled.

Service Advisor: Sales and Customer Service
2024 Goals: To provide training opportunities and a base of knowledge for Porters and Juniors Advisors brand new to business. This entry level path should be provided to all employees who are customer facing and pursuing a position as a full time Service Advisor.
Any employee with less than two years of experience should complete the program in its entirety. Advisors with more than two years of experience may be assigned courses based on individual store needs and opportunities of individual growth with the overall goal of continually expanding and improving upon all employee’s knowledge.

Senior Advisor: Advanced Sales and Management
2024 Goals: To expand training opportunities to Senior Service Advisors and begin developing them for Manager level roles while also continuing to enhance the skills of current Managers. Any Advisor with less than two years of experience, or those who complete Service Advisor I should complete this full training path.
Senior Advisors and Junior Managers may be assigned courses based on individual store needs and opportunities of growth with the overall goal of continually expanding and improving upon all employees knowledge.

Technician Training
Lunch and Learns: Already have your ASEs? No problem we have opportunities for you to continue to expand your knowledge with a wide variety of constantly changing continuing training education (CTE) options. These are one hour training opportunities designed to be completed during you lunch break and focus on a specific area of growth, new and emerging technology, market trend, or company policy. Others are offered as introductory overviews or new tricks of the trade on topics covered in ASE Technical Training and always serve as a good refresher.
ASE Technical Training: Technicians who wish to earn their ASE Certifications have two different pathways to success. Our GS Tech pathway is designed for Technicians with less than three years of diagnostic experience working on cars, it starts with safety and tools and quickly moves into ASE test prep from there. The Professional Technician Path is designed for technicians with more than three years of diagnostic experience and is designed to take your existing knowledge and go deeper into some topics while preparing you for a larger range of ASE certifications. Techs who start the GS Path may then go on and complete the additional certifications under the Professional Tech Path without the need to recomplete previously covered modules.
State Inspector and Emissions: Are you ready for an additional challenge? Mentor under an exsisting Inspector who will help you study for your VA State Inspector or Emissions License. We will help guide you through the process of becoming certified and set you up with all of the study materials necessary. **Inspector Applicants must meet the qualifying criteria set by the State in order to test.

The General Service Technician Pathway is for entry level technicians who have some basic skills and a desire to pursue a career as a technician. This training pathway is largely self-paced and offers a mix of Web Based and Classroom Instruction, the expectation for completion will be set with your Manager and the Training Coordinator.
General Service Technicians will be trained in the following areas:
· Safety and Supplemental Skills
· Engine Repair
· Automatic Transmissions
· Manual Transmissions and Drive Train
· Suspension and Steering
· Brakes
· Electrical and Electronic Systems
· Heating and Air Conditioning Systems
· Engine Performance
· Diesel Engines
Along the way Technicians will be eligible to test for ASE Certifications in the following areas:
ASE-A1: Engine Repair
ASE-A4: Suspension and Steering
ASE-A5: Brakes
ASE-A6: Electrical Systems
ASE-A7: Heating and Air Conditioning
Technicians who complete the GS Pathway may then take the Professional Tech Courses needed to earn the remaining ASE Certifications

The Professional Technician Pathway is for technicians with a few years of experience but no proof of skill or those looking to expand upon their professional knowledge. This training pathway is largely self-paced with a mix of Web Based and Classroom Instruction, the expectation for completion will be set with your Manager and the Training Coordinator.
Professional Technician Pathway Covers Training in the following areas:

· Automatic Transmissions
· Suspension and Steering
· Brakes
· Electrical and Electronic Systems
· Heating and Air Conditioning Systems

Continuing Education

2024 Goal: To elevate staff by continually increasing their knowledge base on new areas of business and to continually revisit old areas of business to stay abreast of industry changes so that the team can make the best decisions for overall company strength and growth.
Office Partnership Training
(Payables Coordinator and Interested Staff)
2024 Goal: To elevate payables staff by teaching them the ins and out of available buying programs to make sure we are a) effectively working programs to save money b) getting the full value out of programs we pay subscription fees for c) have the ability for the person paying the bills to constantly act as a second set of eyes for compliance.
Basics of Marketing – Mechanical
(Marketing Assistants & Interested Team)
2024 Goal: To have the flexibility to provide ongoing training to junior marketing staff to increase their productivity and market knowledge while remaining flexible to the current needs of the marketing department and the scheduling availability of junior marketing staff.

New Hire and Systems Training is assigned from your first day based on your job title and experience you may be assigned one or all of these classes through our in our LMS Training System.
